The Country Day School movement began in the late 19th
century. It's aim was to create a more progressive educational rigor that
encourages learners to work together in a positive environment, utilizing
hands-on activities, while preparing students for the next educational level.
With a holistic view of student learning, country day schools value
inspirational atmospheres that foster learning and culture. Students learn to
value their community and gain positive leadership skills through teamwork and
problem solving.
At Guiding Stars Academy, we have adopted the Country Day
School philosophy for early learners. Through guidance and camaraderie, we
prepare our students for their next educational journey. Following the
philosophy of Lev Vygotsky in the country day school movement, our students are
enveloped in social interactions that encourage more advanced thinking among
the group, and as a unique individual. Our teachers work among students to
guide them through challenging tasks and new situations, obtaining larger zones
of development.
The Country Day School movement created nuances in education that produced top
students, not only in the education field, but within the community as well. We
strive to produce kindergartners who are ambitious and curious learners, who
